Need help on how to sell a full auto MAC 11 in Maryland

I'm heading overseas for work for three years and figue I better sell my MAC 11 before going over. My understanding is that I can't take it with me or leave it with anyone but a class 3 liensed dealer. Do any of you know if this is true?

If I have to sell it, how should I go about selling this gun. If I advertise it on this site can I ship it directly to the recieving class 3 dealer or do I need to have a local dealer handle the transfer? How much would this process typicall cost beyond the $200 transfer tax? This is my only full auto and I'm not sure how to best go about selling or storing the gun while I'm gone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Dave. If you do not want to sell the weapon why not put it in a safe or safety deposit box until you return? Those are options. You cannot legally hand it over to anyone for safekeeping but you can store it yourself. If you have a home safe-or safety deposit box--those would legally suffice.
If you are wanting to sell rather than hold post it on the trading post board. If you get a buyer within your state you can transfer it directly to them after approval. If out of state you must transfer it to a CIII dealer UNLESS your buyer is a licensed FFL. You could then do a form 4 transfer and ship directly to them after approval.
M11's are quite popular weapons and usually sell well if priced properly. If you have any more questions feel free to email me directly John@nfasales.com or post them here on the board.
