Theft By UPS Employee--Could Have Been YOUR Guns!

As easily as this was done we should be thankfull it did not involve firearms. I ship USPS registered mail only when shipping firearms. I suggest if shipping to a dealer abbreviate gun shop as G.S. if that is part of their name. The less conspicuous the better. This article was pulled from today's Naples Daily News.

Shipping employee stole computers, authorities say

A 21-year-old East Naples UPS store worker is facing felony charges after Collier County sheriff’s deputies say he stole computers and other items that were being shipped through that branch.

Eric Alexander McComas, 980 Auto Ranch Road, No. 3, was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property, defrauding a pawn broker and petty theft.

McComas stole two Dell laptop computers valued at $860 and $400, a Dell flat panel computer monitor valued at $105 and a Bose portable speaker system valued at $299 from the UPS store at 971 Commercial Blvd., where he works, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

McComas was sorting packages and when he found the boxes containing the items, he opened them, reports said. The thefts occurred on Dec. 5 and Dec. 18.

McComas sold the speaker system to Capital Pawn Superstore at 1933 Davis Blvd. in East Naples.

A store security supervisor told deputies that McComas had been acting suspicious at work and that other employees had seen him placing packages under his work station that should not have been there, reports said.
