Form 4, "Why do you wish to posess"

Will ATF deny transfers based on certain answers here?

"All lawful purposes"  "collecting" "hunting osama bin laden"

My local dealer said that for a MG, the reason must say 'collecting'.   True, false, or what ?

I put 'all lawful purposes' on my supressor application. collecting didn't seem right as this was intended for a nightstand gun.

I was under the impression (may be wrong) that as long as your answer was some legal use, you were okay. If you said something illegal, then the transfer would be denied.

Guess I'd like to hear if anyone has had a transfer rejected based on the reason supplied.

IF you are submitting a F4 I can tell you for a fact that we have used or seen some of the following on approved transfers:
collecting
investment
recreational shooting
corporate security

I dont know that there is a "correct" answer.

I know someone who put something akin to hunting Klingons and the examiner approved it and put a note inside "Live long and prosper."
